Property Description

Longmead is situated on the edge of Bucknell village, set back off a quiet lane, surrounded by rolling south Shropshire countryside. During a thoughtful program of development throughout the years, the current vendors have transformed this once-tired building into a stylish home, replete with character and bags of charm.

From the front door you enter the reception hall, a well-lit space, giving access to the staircase, kitchen and living room. This good-sized, beautifully presented room is flooded with light, courtesy of the French doors to the rear garden. The half-panelled walls, shelving alcoves and wooden flooring lend much character to the room – as does the pretty wood burning stove, set in a feature wooden fireplace.

The redesigned kitchen has a central island seating area and plenty of chic units, which offer lots of storage and ample food preparation space. A large double sink with multi-functional taps and a range-style cooker with overhead extractor sit on one side of the kitchen just along from a set of French doors, accessing the rear garden. A nifty bank of units sits to one end of the kitchen: these house an additional sink and microwave – this clever space can be easily closed over to retain the sleek lines of the room. The kitchen benefits from underfloor heating.

From here, double doors lead into an impressive, half-panelled, dining area with vaulted ceiling. This room is lit via windows on two aspects and a further set of double French doors, which open to the front garden patio area.

Finally, off the kitchen, sits the utility room: this has built-in storage, a stable-door to the garden and secret set of doors that open to the downstairs WC.

All the upstairs accommodation leads off a well-lit landing. The family bathroom is accesses via a stained glass pocket sliding door and features a free-standing bath and wet-room style opening shower enclosure. Along from the bathroom are two double bedrooms with views across the rear garden to the hills behind the property. The master bedroom sits to end of the property and has built-in wardrobe and an en suite shower room.

Outside: A generous front garden and patio area sits to the side of the driveway and is bordered with mature hedging and shrubs. The rear garden is completely private and has a lawn area with plenty of trees and shrubs as well as a patio area. A small jetty sits over the brook to the rear of the plot, proving is a glorious place to relax.

There is planning consent in place for a detached carport.

Area: Bucknell is a small village in south Shropshire and has two pubs, a small village stores, plant nursery, church, primary school, a train station and bus links. The market towns of Knighton and Ludlow are just a short drive away.
